In the wake of a global rebranding, I updated and recreated National Geographic’s map experience as Lead Designer.
An amazing opportunity in research and product design, I rebuilt the interactive map experience from the ground up. This involved 3D rendering the map, enriching it with data from the Harvard Map archives, and implementing it for deployment in various platforms.
The new map experience makes the Earth’s wonders accessible to users from their handheld devices. It allows users to explore the planet’s spatial, ecological, and geological details on various scales — from the largest ice caps and ocean trenches to the tiniest islands.
